One of the most fundamentally unsound theories prevalent amongst.. too many of us. It does hold some truth. In fact, it resounds one of my favourite mantras – being yourself. What with all the hype of “I’d rather be hated for who I am, than be hated for who I’m not”. I’m sorry cupcake, this is real world. And in real world, who is really able to say they’re being themselves, when mastering rocket science is umpteen times easier than defining who they are. That’s right, you’re fervently changing, evolving with every breath you take. You can’t say this is you, and people is just going to have to accept that. Because “you” are creating yourself, and figuring out who “you” are each living day. – This is basically why I’d ask you to scrap this glorified excuse for not wanting to change and walk a path of betterment.

That’s right. The Glass House, or any other advices will NEVER work for you till you learn to accept that YOU are not a solid piece of rock. YOU have the ability and potential to change. Let’s give you a typical example. A girl who has the habit of not showering.. and hence develops bad cases of b.o moans that she’s not getting a boyfriend, because she’s… well… not-that-nice-smelling. So you go up to her and tell her. if you know that being not-so-fragrant is deterring you from finding a boyfriend in this (very superficial) world, why don’t you do something about it. More likely than not, ”This is me, if he doesn’t like me for who I am, then too bad.” is what you’re going to get. You understand her stance, but come on, seriously? She needs more than a bath, she needs a mentality overhaul.

It’s not about pretending to be someone you’re not. It’s not about purposely showering to attract a boy when you hate it anyway, and then end up sulking cause you start to spend an extra $4.90 each month on soap. It’s not a game. It’s a system.

Personally, I strongly believe that almost everything under our noses (well, assuming we all have one) follows a system. I know about grey areas and all. But honestly, the amount of black and white areas will outcount the grey ones anytime of the day. This in short is what I mean. Take for example a scenario at a job interview. You WANT the job. You’d SELL YOUR SOUL for the job. So do you just go up to the employer on your interview day, shake his hand and ask the whereabouts of your desk? No!

Whenever there’s a certain want, a certain goal in your life. there’s ALWAYS a system to follow to get there. Call it step-by-step, etc. you know what I mean. And there’s only one thing that’d impede you.

Telling yourself that this is you, and if people don’t like it, then they’d have to deal with it. Because you know what? People won’t have the patience to, they’d walk away before you can even say gnome.

YOU will never be YOU forever. Learn that, and understand.
This, my dear friends, is the very first step to the brand new, sparkly, successful you.

p.s. no offense intended to people who hate showers!

xoxo,
Angel

Hello Stranger,

All my life I’ve played the role of Aunt Agony to my friends, my goldfish named zaikasoe, and even random strangers. It’s not that I’ve nothing else better to do than to sit down hearing people rant ala twinkle friends, sos helplines. It’s just that over the years, I’ve developed this ability to be able to read people, very quickly, very accurately. No, not their minds like a purple gypsy. But by their words, and actions, I can tell what makes people tick and what doesn’t. Give me a little more time, and I can tell them things they don’t even know about themselves.

I’ve helped my friends become perfect dates, I’ve remolded cracked friendships, and I’d like to think that I was the creator of some magical beginnings of romance between a few lovebirds. I’ve helped people get through tough times, but note, not by crying with them, and stuffing extra kleenex into both our noses, but by using my mind and part heart, to hold their hand in carrying out the right actions to get out of a rut. That’s right, besides reading people, I compartmentalise pretty well. That means, if I’m hearing someone out, I’d turn my mind notch to 90 and my heart notch down to 10. Because when someone has a problem, they’re already overwhelmed with emotions, and I’m here, with a clear mind, to help people. Not throw in even more emotions to the cauldron.

One day, while showering, (yes, I love showers, and showers have this inspirational thing going on for me.) I thought of creating a certain Little Black Book. Much like the tips/rules of life all of us wished came with us when we entered this world. Little help-articles on relationships, dating, life in general, people, and every ningnong thing in this world.

And this was how The Glass House was formed. Close friends who know me, will probably go ahhhh, she and her glass houses. That’s right. I’ve a neurotic obsession with glass houses. Why, is another question altogether. But that’s besides the point. I thought TGH would be apt, because when you, yes my dear reader steps into this little glass house, I want you to be able to watch out into the world with a little more clarity.

And that’s how it’s going to roll. With little bits of me shared in my articles; this joy ride, I’m anticipating.

Oh right, My name’s Angelina. But I go by alot of names.
Angel will do for now. (: Because The Glass House, will be as real as I get.

xoxo,
Angel. (no Aunt Angel, please.)
